This program is designed to provide the student with knowledge and skills of basic emergency medical care and transportation for critical and noncritical patients. The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certificate program is a one semester program. Applicants to the EMT program will be selected in a cohort of 24 students per program location.
学生 admitted to the program will complete an academic schedule of lecture, 实验室, and external learning experience (clinical) over a 15-week period. Cohort members will be in the classroom 16 hours per week for lecture and 实验室 instruction and 8 hours per week for their external learning experience. During the external learning experience (clinical), EMT students will be supervised by paramedic preceptors with various EMS 年龄ncies across the East Tennessee region.
This program is designed to meet all State and National requirements to prepare for the EMT exam given by the National Registry of Emergency Medication Technicians (NREMT).
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certificate program is offered at the Knox County Center for Health Sciences and designated RSCC satellite campuses.
The Tennessee Department of Health, Division of Health Licensure and Regulation, Office of 紧急医疗服务 provides program oversight. The program is approved by the Tennessee Board of Regents and is subject to the standard program evaluation required for performance funding.
Graduates of the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program are eligible to take the certification examination administered by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.

As the population continues to 年龄, there will be an increasing demand for Emergency Medical Technicians.
