RSCC Policy PA-21-01; Memorial Fund Administrator

Roane State Community College
Policy Number: PA-21-01
Subject: Memorial Fund Administrator

All administrators, faculty and staff members are encouraged to join the Roane State Memorial Fund. The purpose of the Memorial Fund is to send a gift, or another appropriate remembrance, in the event of illness or death of a Roane State employee or a specified member of his/her family. Additionally, memorials are sent for the death of a student.

The fund is supported through voluntary contributions. Each new employee is solicited upon employment to sign a voluntary deduction card authorizing the deduction. The funds are placed in an agency account. No employee is coerced or compelled into participation. An online Payroll Deduction form for enrollment in the Memorial Fund is available on the Human Resources webpage and enrollment cards are available in the Human Resources Office.

The Director of Human Resources administers the Memorial Fund. The funds are subject to audit at the time the general audit is done. An annual statement of the Memorial Fund account is prepared by the human resources office with a report on the status of the account printed in the Communicator.

The funds are disbursed as follows: A gift up to $50 will be sent for the hospitalization of an employee, or current temporary employee. In the event of a death, flowers, memorials, or donations ‘in memory of’ are sent (for up to $100) for an employee, an employee's spouse, child, step-child, parent, siblings, grandparents, grandchildren or a Roane State student.
